The story was a nice continuation from the original, it had some of the same humor, and it had a great ending.
In "Portal 2" you wake up after centuries, and you meet Wheatley, a robot that with your help hopes to escape Aperture Laboratories. As you make your way through the destroyed faciliy, you accidentally reawaken GLaDOS, and are put right back to testing. Will you and Wheatley escape, what will become of the facility that is facing nuclear meltdown, and will there be cake? Play single-player to find out the rest of the story.
But "Portal 2" is really more about the new co-op mode, with it's own story and around 40 unique levels. There is also a DLC that adds even more levels, so you can continue having fun after you have beaten the story. Co-op is truly great, because you can have fun with your friends figuring out hard physics puzzles that will make you want to keep on playing.
Overall "Portal 2" is great, and I recommend you get it even if you haven't played the original "Portal" because it was not expected to be big hit but it was and it is only a really short game. Plus if you play Portal 2 you can pretty much figure out what happened.
